Joy
Conversations sustain me. With others, materials, the space, landscape, the more-than-human, myself, and with those who are no longer here but remain part of me. As a dancer my body brings me joy, even when it's protesting and in pain. Connecting with other bodies, moving and making together, finding a shared language, creating new ones where there aren't any. Learning, unlearning and starting over. Soft returns and time to grow, not always up or forwards. Compassion, openness and childlike curiousity. A new favourite song, a handwritten note, other people's bookshelves. Wide open spaces. An old oak tree. A smile and hello. A warming cuppa. Touch. The first flower in spring and the sound of birds returning. Hanging the washing. Lighting a candle to remember. Knowing that you're in the world.
