A drawing in felt tip pen (landscape, colour), of what looks like some kind of furry striped creature curled up on a grey surface. It looks like it could be a cat, with its face tucked right into itself, and it’s long tail pulled round its body. It looks like it could be a tabby cat as there are stripes on it. The drawing is loose and expressive, and shows its working in the markings that show mistakes.

Sleeping Gracie (colouring in)

A digital photograph(portrait, colour) of what looks like the interior of a household window. The image is positioned with the left frame of the window directly in the centre. To the left of the image, the face and head of a sleepy tabby cat is visible, lying on a wooden surface. To the right of the image is the scene of a neighbour’s garden, with a line of dark socks hanging individually on a washing line in afternoon sunshine, casting shadows.

Gracie by the window (with doubled socks)

A digital photograph (portrait, colour) of what looks like a pile of some kind of twiggy, plant material, perhaps rosemary. It is sat on a white fabric backdrop, and its the only thing we see in the image. it looks as though it has been picked some time ago as the twigs and leaves appear a dry, faded, dull green and the stems are woody. The stems are also twisted, curling round one another. It seems as though it is propping itself up in this contorted shape. loose, dry leaves are scattered all around it. the foreground is in sharp focus. The image is soft, strange and very still.

Rosemary for Remembrance (such is gardening)

A sketch in pencil (portrait), of what looks like a large tree. The tree is in a large cone-like shape. It’s drawn in a very loose and expressive way, and it looks as though it may be a large conifer with its leaves/branches stacked in this tall, narrow, pyramid shape. In the foreground is a less organic shape of the outline of a small pitched roof, and a harsh line runs diagonally across the page. The scene could be a garden but it’s unclear. Underneath the sketch in hand written block text reads: YOU TOLD ME HOW YOU MADE YOURSELF UNHIDDEN WHILST I GAZED OUT ONTO THIS CONIFEROUS COLUMN.

Chatting with Abi (lush, rich, lullaby)

A piece of slightly yellowed/discoloured paper with a scattering of coloured markings; dots, dashes and faint lines. It doesn’t seem to have much form to it, and the marks are made up of different colours, mostly greys, blacks and some yellow and pink. The marks look like they’re made from felt tip pens, almost as if they have been made from ink seeping through from a previous page to this below, like the kind of markings made in your childhood colouring book. Whilst it is a constellation of unstructured little dots, it isn’t entirely formless, hinting at a shape but never revealing it.

Sad Chair doodle (leftovers)

A drawing of what looks like a high backed chair done in felt tip pen of different colours. The chair is draped in a striped blanket with what looks like tassels at the end underneath the seat. It looks like the chair has another blanket draped on the back with a cushion. The stripes of the chair are thick and grey, some short and some long depicting the drapes of the blanket. The cushion and the other blanket have blotches of yellow, pink, blue and green, suggesting floral print, the drawing is loose and expressive.

Sad chair doodle (an un-sat seat)

A digital photograph (colour, portrait) of what looks like a the interior of a window pane with the curtains drawn. The sun is shining bright through the dark curtains, creating a shadow of the window frame. The curtains are a purlply/dark blue, and there’s a book on the side table in the corner of the image. The walls around the window are painted white.

From inside migraine cave

A line drawing in pencil of what looks like a mid-century high backed arm chair draped in a striped blanket with cushions. It looks like it has wooden arms and legs, but it isn’t completely clear. Over the top of the back of the chair is what looks like another blanket of a different, possibly floral pattern. The scene is loose expressive, with thick graphic lines for the stripes of the blanket.

chair doodle (tired)

A digital photograph (colour, landscape) of what looks like some kind of scrunched up towel or flannel. The object sits lengthways on a white surface, possibly fabric, with the same plain white backdrop. The material looks wet/damp, as if its been rung out, twisted and squeezed to drain out as much liquid as possible. It's shape is now this twisted oblong, which spirals from the left, bunches and rises in the middle, and curls upwards at the end. The image captures the wet texture of the fabrics toweling, with the light a warm, purply hue. The image is strange and intriguing as to what it is.

Bath Turd

Digital photograph (portrait, colour); 7 different small glass bottle vases. Most are blue, but 1 is green and 1 is pale pink. Each bottle holds a small posy of flowers that look nice but past their best; pale yellowy/white Primroses, shriveled & wilted; pinky-purple Hellebores hanging heavy, green leaves arching; Ribes with small green leaves and chandeliers of deep pink flowers; Pulmonarias with mottled green leaves and clusters of powder-paint coloured flowers of bottle-blue and pink. The scene is calm & sweet, with some flowerheads scattered below, staged on a white fabric of a photo-box.

Flowers for Eleanor (a gentle, lulling decay)

A black and white charcoal drawing in landscape of what looks like the back of a tabby cat. The drawing is loose and expressive, with faint markings showing the mistakes where the head was drawn in the wrong place. The cat is sat laying down leaning on its right side with its head upright to the right of the image. It appears as though it’s lying next to a cushion of sorts, perhaps sat on soft fabric. The drawing looks like it’s been done in a sketchbook. The markings are graphic and energetic, capturing stripes of the cats fur and smaller dashes and dots illustrating whiskers and speckles.

Watching Gracie fall asleep (a soft, slow, nod)

A digital photograph (portrait, colour); 7 different small glass bottle vases. Most of the vases are blue, but 1 is green and 1 is pale pink. Each bottle holds a small posey of flowers; pale yellowy/white Primroses with egg-yolk centres; pinky-purple Hellebores with dark clusters of speckles in the centre; Ribes with small green leaves and chandeliers of deep pink flowers; Pulmonarias with mottled green leaves and clusters of powder-paint coloured flowers of bottle-blue and pink. The scene is calm & sweet, with small puddles of water under the bottles, staged on a white fabric of a photo-box.

Flowers for Eleanor (late today, present always)

A pencil drawing of what looks like hanging fabric drapes of an item of furniture, perhaps a high-backed chair. The sketch is simple and graphic in its use of thick lines to illustrate the striped draping fabric. On the top layer is what looks like a quilt as it looks a bit puffy. It looks like there’s a kind of floral design on it. The back of the chair itself is only visible in the bottom left corner, and it looks like it has some small starry design on the fabric. At the top is what looks like the back of someone’s head. The drawling is v loose and simple, like a doodle in a sketchbook.
