Another Boat

In my mind I would make a huge mural of ancient trees, showing all the under the roots connections. On another wall I would have a panel of photos of all the local wildlife that manages to live and thrive along side humans. These creatures are rarely valued enough - the gulls, urban foxes, pigeons, rats, grey squirrels etc. Some of the endangered and extinct species were once common and destroyed with no care.

Day 13

I was travelling in my mind to a place where once I was happy. 
I  was cycling round the walls of the city. 
The sun warmed my arms and the breeze refreshed my face. 
I felt free. Timeless for a moment. 
Perhaps we will meet there again. 
I will not be old 
and you will not all be scattered and lost
in busy-ness and future plans of lives that move on as lives do, as mine did. 
Was it so that at that moment I was me and now was forever?
The sun warms my arms, the breeze refreshes my face.

Day 12

We have been here before but it seems different this time,
more precious, like we didn’t expect to see it again.  
It is quiet, peaceful, the air is fresh.
And we are both here.
We both made it. 
This  time. 
How rich are the greens of the leaves giving us shade,
framing the outside, the far away we have missed for so long,
Come, sit and share a carafe of our favourite, let us toast the day – 
Just for being the day that is here, that we are living.
That is.
