Making memories - in New Forest today. Good weather and food, 1st drink in a pub garden in 6 months

On day 12 I showed 2 metres of printed string as we have 2 m's of DNA in each of our cells. Scientists don't understand how it fits. Here I'm exploring what happens when I allow rolled up string to unravel

A fankle of string with shadows - 2 Metres of sisal string rolled up and let loose

I collaborated with a molecular biologist looking at string as a metaphor for family connections. I was interested when he said that every cell in the body has 2 metres of DNA in it and that scientists don't understand how it fits. The image is a detail from a print where I inked up a 2m length of sisal string and fed it through the etching press to print on paper.

I found this charcoal drawing when tidying my studio and realise it had got damp and had mould spots. A conservator treated it and I had it framed. It is for sale

Male head - an old work found in 2012 with mould patches. Treated and framed, for sale

I wouldn't change how I make my work in consideration of how people might access it

Cyanotype of mycelium structure. In dark placed stencil near the edge of the paper so feedback was that it looks like the mycelium is still growing. Will do more of these and deliberately make the stencil larger than the paper

Stuart's feedback, mycelium disappearing off page works - will do more where this happens on purpose

Work for my studio window. Trail acetate. Like string looped around itself in a loose knot with a textured background with what look like various shaped bubbles or droplets of mercury. The string loop is black so can't see through it but with the other areas you can glimpse my gardena dn beyond

Guilty pleasure(s) - Wine bottle & glass drawn in chocolate. The challenge was in the singular but I couldn't choose between wine and chocolate so decided to illustrate one with the other
